Persons with substance abuse problems often also suffer with
distinct mental health or psychiatric problems.
These are conditions that combine with the person’s abuse of alcohol and
drugs to severely disrupt mood, behavior, and relationships. These include depression, anxiety, and panic
disorders; posttraumatic stress; attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder;
conduct disorders; personality disorders; and others.
At Maryhaven we take an integrative approach to behavioral
health treatment. We know that treatment
is most effective when substance abuse and mental health problems are addressed
at the same time by one treatment team.
Because of this we assess our patients’ needs for mental health services
and provide these services while they are participating in our substance abuse
recovery programs.
A fully licensed team of clinicians provides mental health
services at Maryhaven including psychiatrists (adult and adolescent
specialists), psychologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and
counselors.
Services include:
- Diagnostic
assessment and treatment planning
- Pharmacologic
management (medications)
- Individual,
group, and family counseling
As patients complete their alcohol and drug treatment we
link them to mental health professionals in the community for them to continue
their treatment.
At Maryhaven we help the whole person to recover and
heal.
