MESA 72 Hour Impaired Driver Intervention Program
Adults age 18 & older

Offered in English or Spanish

Maryhaven Exploring Sober Alternatives (MESA) is central Ohio’s original impaired driver intervention program for OVI / ROMV / other misdemeanor alcohol/drug offenses. MESA is certified as an alternative to incarceration and is offered in various hotels. MESA serves court systems throughout Central Ohio (out-of-state DUI referrals also accepted.) and is offered in English or in Spanish*

Fee is $310 or indigent status assistance includes program, hotel room, meals.  $50 is nonrefundable registration fee, $300 if paid in full in advance

Underage Drinking Program
young adults under age 21 – one day

The Underage Drinking/Drug Program is our one day in-house alcohol and drug education and intervention class for young adults, especially (but not limited to) those charged with offenses such as underage alcohol possession, alcohol consumption, prohibition under the age of 21, open container, false ID, attempt to purchase, and some misdemeanor marijuana and paraphernalia possession charges. UDP focuses on reduction of high-risk behavior associated with alcohol and drug use. Franklin County, and many other Ohio municipal, mayor’s courts and probation officers, plus area colleges and universities use the Underage Drinking/Drug Program for drinking /drug offenders between the ages of 18-20. UDP is based on an international Under 21 prevention curriculum and does not accept OVI or DUI offenders who are referred to our 72 Hour MESA).

The fee is $100 and includes lunch

for YOUTH

Juvenile Underage Drinking Program
Ages 12-17: 1 day class + separate parent session

Our JUDP: Juvenile Underage Drinking/Drug Program is specially geared towards youth who are already engaged in use, have alcohol / drug related misdemeanors, school disciplinary offenses or those who may be at risk for alcohol / drug use or abuse. JUDP includes current, reality-based alcohol / other drug education while focusing on reducing high-risk choices and behavior; includes Individual Action Plans to Succeed. Our goal is to increase preventative factors in the youth’s life and thus the program contains a required component for parents/caregivers. JUDP is based on our successful Underage Drinking Program for young adults under age 21, and uses the same core international prevention and education curriculum. Additional services are available if needed.

JUDP fee is $45 and includes lunch

Maryhaven Young Driver Intervention
under age 18

Youth charged with OVI, Hit Skip, Drag Racing, ROMV or other infractions involving alcohol/drugs and a vehicle will attend our MYDI program designed specifically to meet their needs as required by area traffic courts. This class can also be taken without a court order as a suggested prevention effort to reduce traffic fatalities, the leading cause of death, for this age group. MYDI includes group processing, victim impact components, self-assessment / screening tools and includes an Individual Action Plans to Succeed designed with the facilitator.

MYDI fee is $85; includes JUDP and lunch
